ContactPresident Signs PTO Funding Bill

On August 10, 2010, President Obama signed into law a bill that allows the Patent Office to keep all of the fees it generates for fiscal year 2010. Prior to this bill, the Patent Office only was able to keep a portion of the funds it generated and the overage was diverted into other government programs. This bill will help the Patent Office reduce its backlog by hiring additional examiners, allowing more overtime, and upgrading its computer and software systems.
